FAQs

  • Daniel is currently tattooing in the downtown Lantern District of Dana Point, California at The Black Lantern tattoo studio.

  • During the appointment, various references and options involved in your project will be presented to you.

Daniel spends extensive time preparing, gathering, and organizing references, so he will offer a focused visual to create the best design possible. The process is not a 1-2-3 traditional approach to tattooing, whereby a sketch is done, then that sketch is used to produce the final tattoo. Instead, ideas are always left to be fluid and free until the day of the actual session so that we can assess and adapt to the location.

The references that are organized between the client and artist are the foundation in which improvising and adapting is possible. In session, all reference images will be finalized, and only until both client and artist are completely satisfied, will tattooing begin. The beginning hours of the session will be spent making sure the images and design are perfect, and addressing any issues, questions and concerns.

  • Due to the diverse nature of individual anatomy and the distinctive traits of each design, estimating the time required to complete a project before finalizing the design and starting the process is not feasible. Factors such as varying pain thresholds, skin types, and other personal attributes significantly influence the duration needed to finish each project.

  • Long-term projects can be broken down from the first session. The first session is often spent planning and organizing the main concepts to a large project, so both artist and client can see the full scope of the work and establish clarity.

Due to the nature of Daniel’s workflow, it is highly advised that clients working on large scale projects book multiple sessions in advance in order to establish momentum and avoid long wait times in between appointments. This is crucial in maintaining synergy throughout the journey.

  • Yes, however, it is advised for clients to have general ideas in terms of meaning and purpose well developed prior to imagery. The more clarity that the individual has for the intentions of the piece, the stronger the options are creatively to develop visuals to begin to design based off of that foundation. Organizing, planning and composing imagery comes naturally when meanings that support them are authentic to the individual. Once a focus is built, then various images can be presented to the client accordingly.

  • To ensure the smooth operation of our schedule and to respect the time of both our client and artist, we have a 72-hour rescheduling policy in place.
